The PGA Tour announced Wednesday that the title sponsor of the Nissan Open at Riveria Country Club in Los Angeles, California will no longer be Nissan and will now be named The Northern Trust Open. Northern Trust, a Chicago based company, signed a five year deal, giving the tournament a new name for the first time since 1989, when Nissan took over as title sponsor.
Nissan had signed a contract to sponsor the event through the 2010 season, however recently moved it’s U.S. based headquarters from Southern California to Nashville, Tennessee …

Tiger Woods officially signed an endorsement deal with Gatorade on Tuesday, which represents Tiger’s first U.S. deal with a beverage company. The new Gatorade Tiger will be released in March of 2008, with 3 new flavors, cherry blend, citrus blend and grape, which were hand picked by Tiger himself.
The terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed however; Golfweek magazine reported last month it was for five years and could pay Woods as much as $100 million, moving him closer to the $1 billion mark in …

Defending champion Paul Casey and six-time winner Ernie Els reached the second round of the World Match Play Championship at Wentworth on Thursday.
