LPGA gets a new logo

I hadn't noticed the change until I was browsing around the LPGA website and saw this article. I think it's a pretty cool, fresh looking logo. Maybe the PGA logo needs a face lift too...

The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) today unveiled its new logo, a contemporized version of its classic “swinging lady” mark. Working with SME, the world leader in strategic sports branding and design, the LPGA brought the vision of its dynamic future to life with a series of bold brushstrokes designed to stand the test of time.

“We designed a logo that represents the power, strength and athleticism of our LPGA athletes, and with the use of the bold colors, highlights our international membership and global business,” said LPGA Commissioner Carolyn F. Els & Casey advance in World Matchplay Championship

Defending champion Paul Casey and six-time winner Ernie Els reached the second round of the World Match Play Championship at Wentworth on Thursday.

Top-seed Casey beat Jerry Kelly 3 and 2. Els defeated Colin Montgomerie 6 and 5. U.S. Open champion Angel Cabrera had 11 birdies to beat Retief Goosen 6 and 5.

"There will be a lot of soul-searching as to why I'm playing well and couldn't produce it today," said Harrington, the British Open champion who bogeyed three of the first five holes. "Losing in the first round is very disappointing because I was thinking of going all the way."

Two matches did not finish because of a two-hour fog delay in the morning.
