Jim Thorpe Charged with Tax Evasion.

Man I hate to hear about news like this, but if you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime I guess.  Champions Tour golfer, Thorpe is being charged with failing to pay over 1.6 million dollars in taxes for money earned in 2002 2003, & 2004.  His attorney says he’s planning on pleading not guilty, but we know the IRS.  They usually get what’s coming to them.  I wish Jim good luck and I hope he can get this figured out without having to do any time in the slammer.

Jim has won a lot of money, I believe over 17 million. Let’s say in 2002-2004, his tax preparer made an incorrect deduction for $250K. Penalties and interest could swell the tax obligation to over 1.6 million. Maybe Jim got free rides on private jets and failed to report them as income (remember Tom Daschle’s limo rides he failed to report?). I can’t see Jim Thorpe deliberately being dishonest. He’s not that kind of man. The man in charge of the Treasury, the IRS and what’s left of our ailing economy is guilty of outright tax evasion, tax cheating, ignoring an IRS order to pay $30K, and will never be charged with anything. No person is above the law unless they have been nominated for a position in the Obama Administration. Jim Thorpe should be required to pay what he owes but NOT serve a day in prison as long as Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner is free from charges.
