Let's face it, the regular PGA season is great, but nothing compares to watching the top golfers in the world battle in the major tournaments, and with the Masters closely approaching, it's finally starting to feel like the season is underway. Not only is there more money (and Fedex points) at stake, but every professional wants one of the coveted major tournament wins on their resume.
We all have our favorite. Mine is the Masters, hands down. Which is your favorite major?

I think it has got to be the Open Championship without a shadow of a doubt, but the Masters is a close second.
Yes, the other 2 Majors are great but these 2 are in my opinion a little more exciting. We have heard so many stories from all the Majors, from 1960 U.S. Open, famous for that Palmer charge down the front-nine to the duel in the sun at the Open Championship but the number of stories we have heard from the master is incomparable. And it is not just the results. Jack Nicklaus’ sixth green jacket comes back to mind but there are so many other sub-plots that make the Masters so fascinating. So many many lines just devoting their love for that drive down Magnolia Lane or the Azaleas or that magnificent stretch that happens to go by the name Amen corner. Forget the Aman Corner, just the par-3 12th in itself is filled with so many stories.
I know each Major has its own charm and greatness but there is a certain magic when you think of the feeling you get when you hold the Green Jacket.
Cheers

I think it has got to be the Masters and the Open Championship togeter.

That’s exactly why I love the Masters so much. The place just has a mystique that I don’t feel you get with any other venue. It might be the most perfect golf course in the world.
The Masters, simply because in a fan’s point of view, it’s the first major which is exciting. You can’t match the beauty of Augusta National and Amen corner on Sunday.
Foe me it’s the US OPEN & the difficulty of the courses. The distress & angst evident on the players faces in the final round.Simply ,there is nothing like it to see professional golfers fumble their way through the final round of a US OPEN.Moreover, the final interviews which invariable will contain more than a few players “whinning” how the course was setup way too tough.
The Master don’t cut it for me.The picturesque element is oustanding but then on more than a few rounds the course can be had by more than one player.Pin placement way too easy: a forty eight year old golfer has no business being on the leaderborad with the twenty somethings & thirty something golf players.Take a look at this yrs first round,20 something players under par it’s like golf at the Bob Hope Tournament.
It seems like the Masters is such a delicate balance between keeping the Augusta National powers that be happy, and trying to please the professionals who have to play the course. Sometimes I think it’s a no win situation. Augusta wants the course insanely difficult, like a U.S. Open setup, and the players want scoring opportunities. I’m not displeased with the setup and scoring so far this year. Some guys have gone low, but the top players in the world aren’t the guys shooting 64 & 65′s. With the weather changing by the day, I don’t see the winning score being in the -15 to -20 range, as you would see in a Bob Hope type tournament. We’ll see how the weekend plays out, but I really don’t think that Campbell and Perry are going to be able to keep at the top for long. Time will tell.
British Open and PGA Championship are the top two for me – although I am slightly biase for the first having been lucky enough to go.
The Masters hands down. need I say more?
Hey thanks for it’s nice information and i think that PGA and British Open Championship and are the top.
Obviously, Master is a very high class event. PGA and British Open are also famous tournaments . All have excitement and make me crazy.

Without a doubt Augusta Masters.. a fantastic event.
I think the British Open is always a must watch. With all of the crazy weather no one seems to know where the ball is going which causes some crazy finishes. In fact were coming up on ten years since Jean Van de Velde’s epoch choke at the Open. Stuff like that resonates through the years. Also that Tiger Woods guy has some nice moments there completing the Grand Slam in 2000. Good Blog!
P.S. The U.S. Open sweet as well. Mainly because there is a new course every year.
Masters for the legend of Bobby Jones
British Open for story
The US Open is by far my favorite. It’s our national championship that is open to anyone and everyone…if you’re good enough to qualify. I’m a huge fan of the tough test it offers, birdies will rocket you up the leaderboard and any hole can derail a round. I love it.
The Masters is the best major of them all. The course itself looks the best… The galleries of people that attend this event is unbelievable !!!!
I like all the majors but it is difficult to watch a tournament on NBC. Today, one of the broadcasters actually requested that everyone still admire him. I wish we could have analysis on the radio like we have with football and baseball.
Personally, the US Open.
I really don’t think it is question which major is the best. People schedule their lives around that Sunday in April to see who will take home the green jacket. The masters is hands down the greatest out of the four majors to watch or attend. It’s even in this book i was reading called “the 100 sporting events u must see live” as the number one event to go to out of any sport in the entire world, so it has to be the best major. Think I am lying? check out the website (http://www.100sportingevents.com/), to prove all you US and British open phanatics wrong. I mean i have a book backing me up, I can’t be wrong!!!
I’m with you Dave. The Open and U.S. Open are great, but for myself, and lots of others the Masters has a feel that the other championships don’t have. The venue, Augusta National, is almost as important as the contestants for that tournament. It takes on a life of it’s own for that week. I wonder if they’ll let someone scatter my ashes there when I die? I’ll have to check into that.

Hello,
Do you mind if I link to your website?
Thanks.
Kathy
It’s got to be the Masters for me. I have very fond memories of watching the NCAA basketball tournament finish and then the next weekend, watching the Masters. There’s so much history, a lot of excitement, and a lot of passion tied to the Masters. I look forward to the event ever single year.
