Gary Player says goodbye to the Masters

gpIt was a great scene to see Gary Player walk up the 18th hole at Augusta to a standing ovation this afternoon in what would be his final Masters appearance.  Gary Player has claimed 3 Masters victories, the first coming back in 1961 and the others in 1974 & 1978.   Even after shooting an 83 and missing the cut,  Gary smiled and waived at the crowd who has followed his career since the early 1950’s.  He’s the last of the old generation which included Jack & Arnie.  He’ll be missed at the Masters.

Gary always seemed like a class act and is still one of my favorites back to the golf from the good ol days. Sorry to see him go, but it happens to everyone I guess.
