Play in the 2009 virtual U.S. Open Championship

You might remember a few months ago I did a post about World Golf Tour, the world’s most authentic, online golf simulation experience.  Let me tell you that the courses these guys set up and the realism of the game play is insane   We’ll, the guys at WGT contacted me the other day and they have got something really cool up their sleeve.  WGT has partnered up with the USGA & Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, NY and created a virtual U.S. Open tournament that anyone can sign up to play.  It’s absolutely free and you’ll be playing against other online golfers around the world.

The 18-hole qualifying rounds for the Virtual U.S. Open begin May 25 through June 21. The top qualifiers will then square off for the Virtual U.S. Open title on June 22. The winner will be crowned the USGA Virtual U.S. Open Champion and will be a guest of the USGA at the 2010 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach Golf Links in Pebble Beach, Calif.

So here’s what you need to do.  Register for a free account at World Golf Tour. You can then get some practice in and play in the closest-to-the-hole challenge on WGT’s virtual Bethpage Black, available starting April 13, on www.USOPEN.com.   This will allow players to test their skills, before the Virtual U.S. Open qualifying rounds begin.  This tournament is going to be a lot of fun, and how cool would it be to get to go check out the 2010 U.S. Open at Pebble.

Go register today and I see you all on the course.
