U.S. Open Day 1 Thoughts

18 June 2009 1,292 views No Comments Yet

Not many thoughts for the mess that was Day 1 at Bethpage.  Tiger showed some moments of averageness, and with the rain delay 3 hours after the first tee time, there's still a lot of players that haven't even left the first tee...Mickelson being one of those.   Needless to say, the course is soggy.  Every shot is carry and the greens are considerably slower due to the rain.

Weather is supposed to be better Friday and part of Saturday, however the outlook for Sunday is poor at best.  Mike Davis of the USGA said that they will not determine a U.S. Open winner until 72 holes are played.  Meaning, if the tournament has to go into Monday, so be it.
